After forming the band slowly got to work to write enough songs for their first realease "The Trip of a Lifetime" E.P.  (see Discography) The killer was very productive at this stage of the bands career, for this album he produced the songs "Six shades" an aggressive heavy metal song, "Jenny" a solemn acoustic ballad and the bands first single "Child" a rap metal song, as well as others. Scolerskimbal also got too work and his best effort was the fast punk song "Pakistan". Unfortunately one of his songs "Missing you" was never to make it onto the album after an embarassing incident while recording the vocals robbed him of the courage to ever re-record the song as it was. Thankfully the song was later remixed in an improved form as "Queen Mother".  Angel was obviously still feeling a little pissed off about being made bass player but did contribute to the album, releasing all of his pent up emotion in the tragic "Lady friend". Deen contributed heavily throughout the album with what was described as "the best percussion tracks in history". He spent a lot of his time with Angel, helping him to get through the tough times and to help him learn how important the bass player is to a band. His brilliant counselling skills were also called into play after the ill fated recording of the vocals for "Missing you" when Scolerskimbal became so embarassed he almost killed himself. The band were unanimous in describing Deen as an "inspiration" as well as a "brother".

Unfortunately "The Trip of a Lifetime" was never to actually be released. Despite the high quality of musicianship, singing and mixing on the tracks it was described as too violent and offensive for public consumption and the bands efforts in recording the E.P.  had come to nothing. This hit especially hard on The killer who had produced a large number of the tracks for the album. Selflessly though it again was Deen, who, ignoring his own dissapointment at the hard work he had put into the album, gave The killer a shoulder to cry on and helped him to pick himself up for a tour to promote themselves as the worlds ultimate live act. In order to practice for what were to be some of the most violent gigs the world would ever see the band shut themselves away inside their bedrooms furiously blasting tracks from "The trip of a lifetime" through their amps. Deen worked so hard on his drumming that his biceps were about eight inches thick and he had to have a drum kit, specially reinforced with iron girders to avoid his mighty arms smashing it apart whilst playing. Despite his strength, Deen was a gentleman however and would never hurt anybody (except of course, during a show). The official DEATHSQUAD website has some very rare pictures of the band during this time (see Pictures). After about a month of practice the band set of to tour in June of 1999.
